How facts are checked
How access facts are checked
Every access fact on Step-Free was published by a venue, the operator or a transit agency. Nothing is inferred, and nothing is filled in by guesswork.
Where the facts come from
Facts on Step-Free come from the venues' and hotels' own pages. The operator, Great Canadian Entertainment, supplies two more sources: its accessibility policy and its update page. Transit details come from TTC, Durham Region Transit and Milton Transit pages. All five casinos in the guide are run by that operator. Its policy covers its Ontario properties under the Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act, 2005 (AODA).
Each fact was checked on October 7 and 8, 2026. The guide is written and signed collectively as the Curb-to-Door Desk. That is a shared name, not a person. It reports what the casinos, the operator and transit agencies publish about access, and nothing else.
Why gaps read not published
When a venue has not published a detail, Step-Free says so instead of guessing. The page gives the venue's phone number so readers can ask directly. Some gaps apply across the guide. None of the five casinos publishes its number of accessible parking spaces. Step-free entrances are stated only for Great Blue Heron; the other four do not publish this.
The checklist follows the same rule. A reader marks what they need and sees which venues published each item. Totals are counts of published items, not scores, and the guide does not rate venues. A lower count means less was published, not that a feature is absent.
Straight-line distances
Distances on Step-Free are straight lines between map coordinates from OpenStreetMap. They are not routes by road, rail or bus. The guide gives no walking distances or times between a bus stop and a casino entrance. Those would be estimates, and the site does not estimate. Readers who need that detail can call the venue on the number shown on its page.
Questions
Has the Curb-to-Door Desk visited the casinos?
The guide does not visit venues on readers' behalf. It reports what the casinos, the operator and transit agencies publish about access. Where something is not published, the page says so and gives the venue's phone number.
Why does a venue with no published access details still have a page?
A reader planning a visit still needs a way to ask. As checked on October 8, 2026, the Casino Ajax page publishes no accessibility details of its own, and no Casino Shuttle runs there. Its page in this guide marks the missing details as not published and gives the phone number for questions before the trip.
